What Was Already There
Notes from Southern Italy
It was my first time visiting Southern Italy.
The heat arrived before everything else.
The kind that dampens the skin and follows you throughout the day.
Yet what I remember most is not the temperature.
I remember the landscape.
The olive trees.
The vineyards.
The wildflowers growing where they pleased.
The faded stone buildings that seemed to belong to the earth rather than sit on top of it.
Everywhere I looked, beauty existed without performance.
Nature was not competing.
It was not trying to be seen.
It was not asking for attention.
It simply existed, and somehow that was enough.
That observation stayed with me.
For years, I have worked in an industry where more is often mistaken for better.
More flowers.
More color.
More volume.
More explanation.
The difference was difficult to ignore.
A single vine stretching across a wall.
A worn doorway.
A table with only what was necessary.
Nothing felt unfinished.
Nothing felt lacking.
The beauty came from its certainty.
When I returned home, I found myself carrying that lesson into the Summer Collection.
Not by recreating Italy.
But by remembering how it felt.
Lighter.
More spacious.
More trusting.
Less interested in proving its value.
More interested in revealing it.
Perhaps that is what taste really is.
Not the ability to add.
But the ability to recognize what already belongs.
To notice when something is complete.
To leave room for beauty to breathe.
Nature has always known this.
The Summer Collection emerged from that realization.
Not as an attempt to recreate Southern Italy, but as an effort to hold onto the feeling it left behind.
More air.
More movement.
Bold color with restraint.
Summer Motion, Mediterranean Heat, and Sun Fade were each shaped by the same question:
What happens when we begin trusting what is already there?
The answer, I think, lives somewhere in the space between a single stem and a landscape.
